Allama Iqbal's first Urdu collection, published in 1924, presented in a centenary hardcover edition with explanatory notes for students and general readers.

Bang-e-Dra is arranged in three periods: the early poems up to 1905, including Himala and Tarana-e-Hind; the poems written in Europe from 1905 to 1908; and the later poems up to 1924, among them Shikwa, Jawab-e-Shikwa, Tulu-e-Islam and Khizr-e-Rah.

Each major poem is preceded by a short note on its context and followed by explanations of difficult verses, making this edition useful for Intermediate, BS and MA Urdu students.

The context notes before each major poem are wonderful. My students love Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa explained this way.
